Unit Overview

This unit names and describes the anatomical planes of the body, dissects the mouth cavity, pharynx cavity, body cavity and identifies the organs and glands of the digestive system. The unit includes sections on the anatomical planes, anatomical directions, external anatomy, urogenital openings, digestive system, and the mechanical phase of digestion. The exercises include the anatomical planes and directions, anatomy of the head, trunk, anus and urogenital openings, salivary glands and ducts, mouth, pharynx, body cavity, and viscera of the body cavity. The unit concludes with a set of summary laboratory questions emphasizing the main concepts of the unit
