Unit Overview

This unit includes sections on human blood, blood vessels, and the heart. The human blood section covers the topics of blood cells and blood typing. Student exercises in this section include identifying different blood cell types and using artificial blood to determine blood type. The section on blood vessels involves exercises in identifying the major arteries and veins, examining blood vessel types and measuring pulse rate and blood pressure. The section on the heart includes the parts of the heart, path of circulation, and cardiac conduction system. Exercises in this section include examining the parts of the heart and the path of circulation. The unit concludes with a set of summary laboratory questions emphasizing the main concepts of the unit.
